Problems with Contacts
If your are having problems with your contacts,
you should set an appointment to see your eyecare
provider.
Symptom: My contacts hurt when I insert
them.
Problem: Possible tear in contact, increased
deposits, or contact is inside out.
Symptom: My solution is burning my eyes
and I have never had problems in the past.
Problem: An irritation of the eye may cause
burning.
Symptom: I keep tearing my lenses.
Problem: Tearing lenses is usually the result
of long fingernails or closing the case on the contact.
A thicker lens may be indicated.
Symptom: When I wear my contacts, I get
discharge.
Problem: This may be an allergic reaction
to deposits on contacts or possible eye infection.
Symptom: When I wear my contacts, they lift
up on my eye.
Problem: Increased deposits on contacts and
possible allergic response of upper lids to dirty
contacts.
Symptom: My contacts feel dry all the time.
Problem: Re-wetting drops, low water contact
lens
Symptom: Is it ok to sleep in my lenses?
Problem: Only extended wear lenses are designed
to be slept in.
Symptom: I am bad about cleaning my contacts.
What do I do?
Problem: Disposable contacts have a minimal
cleaning regimen.
Symptom: I have a lot of astigmatism. Can
I wear contacts?
Problem: This should be discussed with your
Today's Vision doctor. The lenses of choice are
soft torics or rigid gas permeables.
Symptom: I wear bifocals, can I use contacts?
Problem: Many new advances have been made
in this area. Consult your Today's Vision doctor
to see if they're right for you.
Symptom: Can I alternate solutions?
Problem: It is best to stick with one solution
as prescribed by your Today's Vision doctor.
Symptom: My 10 year old child wants to wear
contacts
Problem: It should be discussed between the
doctor and the parent as to whether the prescription
indicates contacts and whether the child is mature
enough.
Symptom: Can I store my contacts in water?
Problem: Absolutely not!! This can result
in infection. (acanthomeba)
