Contact Types

Whether you suffer from nearsightedness, farsighted-ness, astigmatism or presbyopia - a contact lens option is available.

Soft Contact Lenses are made from flexible plastic that allows oxygen to pass through to the eyes. Soft contact lenses come in a variety of wearing types that include:

Daily Wear: Designed to be removed each day for cleaning, and should be taken out before sleeping.

Daily Wear Disposable: Soft lenses designed for single use, removed before sleeping and discarded.

Extended Wear: Can usually be worn up to seven days without removal.

Extended Wear Disposable: Soft lens worn from one to six nights, and then discarded.

Frequent and Planned Replacement Lenses: Soft daily wear or extended-wear lenses that are replaced on a planned schedule, usually every two weeks, monthly or quarterly.

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses, or RGPs, are made of special, firmer plastics that can allow even more oxygen to pass through to the eye. RGPs come in daily and extended wear varieties and are often better suited for people with high degrees of astigmatism.

A number of soft and RGP lens designs exist to meet the vision correction needs of each individual. Consult your Today's Vision doctor for advice as to the contact lens type best suited to your vision needs and lifestyle.
