NOTE FROM THE DOCTOR -
Donald Glenz, O.D., is a native Texan
who graduated from the University of Houston's College
of Optometry in 1975. He began his career as Chief
of Optometry services while stationed at the Naval
Regional Medical Center in Long Beach, California.
After his military service, he entered private practice
in Dallas.
Desiring a greater challenge professionally, he
moved to Houston, and in 1984, he and Dr. Stig Pedersen
founded Today's Vision, now one of the state's largest
retail optometric operations.
Dr. Glenz has the unique distinction of serving
two consecutive terms as President of the Texas
Association of Optometrists. Former Gov. George
W. Bush appointed him to the Texas Optometry Board,
the State's regulatory authority and liaison between
optometrists and the citizens of Texas.
Additionally, he serves the local community a member
of the Board of Directors of the Houston READ Commission,
Mayor Lee Brown's coalition to promote literacy.
Dr. Glenz has undertaken specialized training in
laser vision correction, and has affiliated with
a nationwide network of optometrists and ophthalmologists
who are performing laser vision correction procedures.
In this regard, the Laser Eye Institute (LEI) of
Houston has credentialed Dr. Glenz. He has also
served as Chairman of the Board of LEI, the largest
independent, outpatient laser vision correction
surgical facility in the Southwest.
He is a member of the American Society of Laser
Medicine & Surgery, a group specializing in
exchanging information on the latest technology
in laser refractive surgery.
