This condition is due to a deficiency of tear
production by the lacrimal glands. The white of
the eye becomes red and swollen, and the eye feels
hot and gritty. Usually both eyes are affected.
Dry eye often occurs in people who have rheumatoid
arthritis or another connective tissue disease.
Your Today's Vision optometrist will guide your
treatment for dry eye which may include tear supplements
or punctal occlusion (a proceedure to keep your
own tears in your eyes longer). Ask for details.
