Visual Acuity

This measurement indicates refractive, macular, and neural integrity. The task of the patient is to recognize the smallest letter possible. This is usually done with each eye separately and both eyes together, without visual correction and with habitual visual correction. Visual acuity is expressed in a Snellen fraction, such as 20/20 when the numerator is the distance in feet (20 ft.) and the denomenator is the letter size.
