Today's Vision was founded in 1984 as
one of the first optometry groups in
Texas, and eventually evolved into a
franchise. In September 2005, a group of
21 Today's Vision doctors purchased the
company from the previous owner and
created Today's Vision Licensing
Corporation (TVLC).
As a licensing group, the new Today's
Vision has been formulated as a
doctor-friendly organization. Licensees
no loger pay a percentage of revenues to
belong. More important, they have almost
total autonomy to operate their offices
and make their own buying decisions.
However, as an association, the new
Today's Vision has utliized its group
buying power to develop powerful vendor
relationships (for frames, contact
lenses, equipment and more). Because of
Today's Vision long-standing presence,
these major vendors not only provide
purchasing discounts, but substantial
co-op dollars and other benefits.
